My Baby at Month 6

So she's finally half of the 12 months that she need to be one and all I can say was, I'm just proud to be her mom! Two weeks before she turned six month she can already sit a bit, still crawling, we let her hold on the side of her crib so she could stand. What actually amazed me was when she would almost fall when she grabbed the side of the crib! She actually had the impulse to know the cause and effect of things. wow that's really cool! Another thing I noticed, she don't like cerelac anymore. She prefer rice, steamed broccoli (seriously!) and whatever me and her dad are eating. We would have bought her a high chair if only there is pink available but there isn't. I wanted pink since she's a girl and one thing more, because some of her things are blue (coz no other colors are available) like the playpen and the bouncer as well as the hand-me-down baby carrier.

I only prepared some cookies and kung pao pasta and my husband bought a cake from RR since we just had Christmas Feast about three days ago and family reunion the day before so we're kind of full of fridge won't be able to accommodate anymore food.

Yna is Teething!

Yna has a fever this afternoon. I was about to go frantic when I realized that it's already time. She's teething! Her lower gums in particular are so red and swollen. For a moment I was thinking why she just want to be carried and was irritated and making noise like she was hurt or something. Oh! I'm so excited and nervous at the same time! Well there's always a first time anyways. I was supposed to be potty training her today but of course it can wait. So I cold compressed her and gave her medicine and placed a koolfever on her forehead. She refuses to drink milk maybe because she can't tolerate the discomfort of her aching gums. And that's what is making me worry. My sister whose son is now 1 year and 7 months told me that there will be more of this, so I better be ready and calm. I really hope she gets well soon.. (sigh)

This Is What I call "Good Morning"

This pictures were taken yesterday morning at around 6:22 when I was about to retire. So late because of my unstoppable insomnia that won't leave me forever! So when I heard Yna making sounds (coooo, wahhhh, haaaaa), I just took my digital camera and take photos and videos of her never ending twist, turns and trying hard to sit. A very lovely and beautiful morning seeing her smile at the sight of me. Not so different from any other morning but that is what I call "Good Morning."

I just can't get enough of her!!

My Baby At Month 5

So this is kind of a bit frustrating for me though, we don't have a good photo shot last celebration of my baby's fifth month. Sorry I can't detail why.. But this one is what I think the best photo that night. That's her and her tita trying to blow the candle. It was Sunday evening when we celebrated Yna's monthsary because we also had a 'potluck' at church that morning. So we did not have enough time to prepare food, we just had Sans Rival cake from Red Ribbon (as always), home made pizza and lasagna. Well anyway, it's not the food that matter but how we have celebrated it (and the pictures!). So at this time, here are some additional milestones of my baby:

  • she can move by kicking when she's lying on her back or roll over just to reach whatever interests her
  • she likes to play with her food (and saliva)
  • she knows her name already that's why she turns when she hears her name being mentioned
  • she plays with her toys, although she can already do it at 3 and a half month, this time she really plays with them
  • she can hold her own bottle properly
  • she can pull her stomach up when she acts like crawling
  • of course she always bring objects inside her mouth
  • she was also able to hold her neck and head in a steady upright position

I'm proud of what she can do now. She never fails to amaze us everyday! I know that she can distinguish us from the crowd. By the way, we bought her a food processor as per her pedia's advice, to serve her with pureed food first until she's six months and can chew some. As of now I'm only giving her solid food three times a week, once a day. Just an introduction of solid food for her. I want her to like-no-love vegetable just like the son of my sister (the one after me).

Dice eating carrot
He loves vegetable so much. Aside from the fact that he has allergies to formula milk, chicken, and egg, he just leaned to enjoy eating veggies. I wish that I would be able to teach my daughter to do the same. Not only that it will be good for her, I don't want her to be a fan of junk food and pork. Well I know it will be up to us and how we will train her.

The Stroller, The Stroll and the Rain

My husband and I bought a new stroller for Yna since what she have was a hand me down from her cousin-my husband's nephew. We thought of buying her a new one so we could bring it to the mall or anywhere. Not that we're not thankful for my husband's sister's thoughtfulness, just a thought that since she was our first born, might as well buy something new for her aside from the clothes (",)  It's not that expensive. It's the only stroller we have seen that can be collapsed the smallest. Others are still big when collapsed. I like the color although it was not my first color of choice, brown with beige checkered. We just bought a mattress to cover the seat of the stroller, pink and white with a touch of pink and with an embroidery that says "princess."

We really planned to have this day our stroll day, we were supposed to go to the nearest park after visiting a micro surgeon in a hospital just few steps away from the park (well that's another story).

We were so excited for that day because we thought, aside from malling, this would be a good start for Yna to enjoy nature. A bay was just beside an ocean park and she would have been able to see the National Hero's monument and other statues.  We planned of eating on a seaside restaurant and walking on a platform constructed about the bay. But all these has gone with the rain that poured so hard while we we're still on our way to the hospital. Ouch!

So we end up malling, no choice 'coz the rain was so hard. We just said that we'll plan another stroll to the park next time.

My Baby's First Birthday Preparation Part 1

Yeah, this is part one of my baby's first birthday preparation since it would be held next year, the 28th of June. I have read couple of blogs and forums regarding preparation how to's and the things that needs to be considered. Now let me go ahead and try to break it down...

First Things First:
1. Number of Guests
2. Budget
3. Venue
4. Date & Time
5. Suppliers (cake, catering etc.)
6. Invitation
7. Tarpaulin
8. Decor for the Venue
9. Games (for both kids and adult)

So these are the details that I have to consider, other secondary details can wait. My husband and I has already checked some cake and catering supplier's websites. All we need to do then is to have a food tasting with the caterer and check their dishes.

My Baby At Month 4

Yna is now at month four. I am so amazed at how she grew up so fast that I think 24 hours is not enough. She more interactive now that I just can't get enough! So at this time she can already:
  • giggle
  • crawl a little bit (like a caterpillar)
  • show great interest in colorful books that's why I don't get tired reading to her
  • feel boredom whenever there are no one around (or if she can't just see us)
  • completely hold her feeding bottle with very minimal supervision,I can even do the laundry
  • show interest on her toys and keeps on playing with her mobile
She wakes up earlier than us so it means that she's our alarm clock every morning. She's too active and playful. It makes my day whenever she stares at me, look around upon hearing my voice and show great appreciation on my face, well, I'm her mother so what can you say?

    I Have New Friends

Do you know these guys? Well as for me, I do now. We now let our daughter watch dvds like Brainy Babies, Rhymes, Barney and those that sing the alphabet song. If we see her bored already with the dvds, we will turn on the television on Nickolodeon channel so she could watch couple of good episodes from Dora, Ni Hao Kai Lan, The Backyardigans, Yo Gabba Gabba and Team Umizoomi. But Before I let her watch those, I made some research about them. Just like choosing the right food and making sure that our kids are eating nutritious foods, I don't take chances on what she would watch.

Dora (the explorer) is a bi-lingual pre-school show which features the adventures of Dora with her monkey, Boot and her backpack. And along the way to their travel they will meet friends who sing songs with them. Each day they have to defeat a villain fox, Swipper from being a hindrance on their quest. This I think was a good show because Dora is directly talking to the viewers and by that, the kids would like to follow her instructions like if she will ask "Do you see a rainbow?" then the kinds will point on the rainbow, or  "Say jump" and the kids will jump to help Dora reach her  goal. And of course the show will always end with it's theme song "We did it."

Ni Hao Kai Lan I think is the Chinese version of Dora. And by the way, Ni Hao Kai Lan means 'hello' in Chinese.

The Backyardigans on the other hand is a show with five little animals who turns their backyard into an adventure place by with imagination.

The Team Umizoomi is a show which has incorporated the concept of math such as shapes, problem-solving story and patterns. If there's a friend in trouble (has lost a toy or if there's a situation that needs assistance), they will talk to him/her on Bot's belly, Geo can build anything using shapes and Milli can make patterns through her dress. It teaches Math concept and at the same time cooperation.

The Yo Gabba Gabba is a techno beat show that focuses on sharing, caring and loving that sing and dance. They actually have guests like they had Elijah Wood, some bands and other know actors to sing and dance with them. At first I don't really understand they but after watching them for three days, I get used of their costumes, their songs and why at night they turn into stuffed toys and being kept by the man that wears an orange suit.

So that’s it, can be a smart choice for moms like me huh?
